sweaty ponytales is inspired by the conversations (we say the “tales”) we have on a run— you know, the ones in other scenarios that might be considered “oversharing.”
Our name came from three friends, who spent a lot of time running together in Chicago. We were two girls who liked to chat the entire way (and who sweat a lot) and one guy in the middle who constantly got splashed by our ponytails.
And boom: sweaty ponytales was born.
As runners, we spend a lot of time shooting the sh*t. We laugh. We don’t’ judge. We’re there when times are tough and when days are great. We just run. Together.
It’s the candid talk we have with someone we just met two miles ago and find ourselves telling our life story to … the conversations we’ve had with the same group we’ve trained with for years, and the pep talks we have in our own heads to push through on tough days.
We might not know each other’s last names and if we’re out in street clothes, let’s be honest, we might walk right past each other… but we show up for each other. On and off the path.
And that’s who sweaty ponytales is. Our greeting cards are you.
They’re the thoughts anyone who’s felt that jolt from a runner’s high gets and the things only someone who loves a runner understands… because every runner has a story.
And we know its not always been easy to find that perfect card for the runners and athletes in our lives.
That’s why we’re here. To tell your tales, make you laugh, show support, and have your back, one sweaty ponytale at a time.

Over the years, I’ve heard a lot of encouraging words on race courses and from the sidelines. I’ve met amazing people who inspired me, have made me laugh, made me cry, and just kept me moving forward. Friends who believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.
I’m a runner and triathlete who knows the best way to see a place is to put on some running shoes and head out the door to explore. This community is like no other and one I’ll always be proud to be a small part of.
